Field-force Mobile App for Utilities

Field crews were still working off paper job sheets, syncing at the end of the day. The client wanted a mobile app that worked offline and updated the office in real time.

The challenge

The problem to solve

Crews often worked in areas with no signal, so real-time systems were a non-starter. Paper meant lost sheets, double entry, and a full day of lag before the office saw completed work.

Our approach

How we got there

We built an offline-first app that queues work locally and syncs the moment a connection returns, with photo capture, digital signatures, and turn-by-turn routing. One codebase shipped to both iOS and Android.

The journey

From idea to launch

1

Field research

Shadowed crews to design for gloves, sun, and no signal.

2

Prototype

Tested the offline flow with real jobs before building.

3

Build

Cross-platform app with robust sync and conflict handling.

4

Adopt

Phased rollout with in-app guidance and support.
